Nové Město nad Metují

The historical town centre, surrounding the rectacular square - with its uniform Renaissance civic houses - dates back to the times when the town was founded. In the chateau´s interiors visitors can admire the ollections of modern Bohemian paintings, the memorial hall of Bedřich Smetana as well as the exposition of doctor Jan Sekyra, the polar explorer and the first Czech, who succeeded in reaching the South pole.
